we’re back! here’s what our brides can expect…

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been able to open our doors to our lovely brides once again! And as we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our brides, we’ve made a few changes to how our appointments work. Here’s what you can expect when you visit:

What’s changed?

We’ve always felt that it’s important to have just one appointment at a time so that we can focus exclusively on our brides when they visit the store. As we’ve reopened, that’s still very much the case: we will only have one bride in the studio at a time, with blocks of time between each appointment to clean and sanitize the space.

While some things stay the same, we’ve had to adjust to the current situation with a few tweaks to our process. Below, we’ve addressed some of the questions our brides have had as we launch this new format:

1. How many guests can I bring?

Each bride will be able to bring up to two guests to their appointment. We encourage you to invite any additional friends and family to join via video call. We have excellent Wi-Fi at the studio that you and your guests are more than welcome to use for this purpose.

2. How long is my appointment?

For the safety of all our brides, our 60-minute appointments have to begin and end on time so that we can sanitize and prepare the studio for the next Union bride. If you do feel that you need more time to look at or try on our dresses, we are happy to book another appointment for you.

3. Will the stylist help me with my fitting?

At Union, we love sharing the love. It’s just part of who we are. In any other time, we’d love to celebrate this part of your journey with hugs and high fives. For now, we’ll keep any contact limited only to zipping, buttoning, and clamping the gowns you choose to try on. You’ll see the love in our smiles and hear it in our voices!

4. Should I wear a mask to my appointment?

Our brides are welcome to use masks during their visit — but that’s not a requirement. If you would prefer that your stylist wear a mask, we’re happy to do that upon request.

If you have the symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID-19, including a cough, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, or fatigue, please let us know. We will be glad to rebook your appointment at no added cost so that you can visit us when you’re feeling 100 per cent.

5. Will my dress still arrive on time?

Throughout the pandemic, our designers have been working hard to prioritize orders and continue delivering their wonderful gowns to our brides with enough time for alterations. They also realize that many brides with weddings planned for later this year might be feeling rushed or worried about getting their dress in time. To help, many of them are waiving rush fees until the end of July so that you can still have your dream dress when you need it.

Some notes on our collection

At Union, we always make sure to have a varied selection of options for our brides, and now is no different. With the pandemic happening when it did, we unfortunately had to cancel our annual sample sale. This means that if COVID-19 got in the way of you finding your dress, there’s a selection of over 50 gowns that you can purchase directly from the store off-the-rack. Given that the normal timeline for a new dress is between five and six months, this could be the ideal solution for our Summer or Fall 2020 brides.

If you’re interested in New Zealand designer Rue de Seine you can also book a private trunk show appointment between June 19 and June 21. This is one of our favourite designers and we’re so excited to share some of their beautiful modern-boho gowns with our brides.

Whether you’re still browsing or have your mind set on the style of dress you want, we can’t wait to be part of your journey!
